The official online community for South Australians living in Europe
For more than 170 years South Australians have been welcoming guests to its shores. They say that if you close your eyes and stand in King Williams street in Adelaide the accents - Geordie, Cockney and Scousers - will make you think you're in England, if you head north you might think you're in Munich, and if you enter one of the other city suburbs you could imagine you're in Athens, Milan, Beijing or Mumbai such is the multicultural atmosphere of Adelaide. The city is the capital of South Australia and with a population of around 1.2 million it's Australia's fifth-largest.
In Adelaide you can afford to enjoy a lifestyle that balances study with the best that Australia has to offer. Forty miles of the finest white beaches, hundreds of festivals, 300 days of sunshine a year, rolling hills, vineyards, gold mines, salt lakes, ancient mountain ranges, and the mighty outback deserts all make South Australia an experience to savour.
Locals say Adelaide is 'the 20 minute city'. With
no congestion you can easily be in the hills in the morning and at
the beach in the afternoon. So why get stuck in traffic jams when
you can be outside enjoying the clean air and stunning scenery? Not
to mention all the great sporting activities, restaurants and
wineries. Then of course there is the famous Kangaroo Island - home
to amazing Aussie icons such as kangaroos koalas, and
platypuses.
