If you are a business person who is considering migrating to Australia under one of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) Business Skills migration categories, you are invited to consider making South Australia your new home for business and living.
Sponsorship from the South Australian Government is available for the following business migration categories:
Immigration SA sponsors eligible business migrants for provisional and permanent visas issued by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). This is a two-step process:
1. Apply to Immigration SA for sponsorship if you meet the State Government criteria. Find out more under 'visa options' at www.migration.sa.gov.au
2. If State sponsorship is granted and you meet Federal Government migration requirements, apply to DIAC www.immi.gov.au for a visa. Remember that State Government sponsorship does not guarantee visa approval from DIAC.
Provisional Visas
Permanent Residency Visas
Please note: The Government of South Australia, through Immigration SA, only processes State sponsorships for the above mentioned visas. For visa applications you need to submit a separate application to DIAC.
Supporting your move to South Australia
Business Migrant Support Services is a South Australian Government initiative to help business migrants settle in South Australia. The services are free for business migrants sponsored by Immigration SA and assist each step of the migration process.
Before you apply for state sponsorship
Exploratory visit support - Immigration SA are happy to meet with you as part of an exploratory visit if you are considering South Australia as a business migration destination. Apply at least four weeks before your planned visit, by contacting the team at bmu.sa@sa.gov.au
After your business migration visa has been issued
On arrival meetings - Once DIAC has issued your visa and you have arrived in South Australia, contact the Business Migration team at Immigration SA to organise a one-on-one meeting to help you with what you need to know.
Open days - Immigration SA offers free one-on-one meetings with the Business Migration team every Tuesday for people who have been sponsored. Bookings in advance are essential.
